Week 7-Baby is the size of a BLUEBERRY!!!

Well, yesterday was our ultrasound and it went great!!!!  There are no words explaining how it feels to see your baby's heartbeat flicker on the ultrasound monitor.  This is all becoming more real.  It was confirmed that I am 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant.  And my due date is September 12th! It feels so fantastic to finally have a due date.  Let the countdown begin!!

I'm still feeling very sick in the mornings.  Which, everyone says is a great sign!! Thankfully, it's usually only in the mornings and it goes away shortly after.  I've been trying to eat saltine crackers as soon as I wake up.  Sometimes those don't always stay down, though! Other than that, still feeling good.

The baby is .51-inch. It has already doubled in size since last week. It's generating about one hundred new brain cells each minute! Not only is the brain becoming more complex, but the heart is too. Also, the arm and leg joints are now forming. Lots of exciting stuff happening!!

Tomorrow, Josh is going to help me make my chalkboard to document the baby bump.  Next week we'll start taking pictures! Stay tuned!

Spoke too soon....

Well, I completey jinxed myself by gloating that I am morning sickness free!!! Today, I was not so lucky.  Woke up feeling kind of dizzy and knew I was doomed.

Unfortunately I'm teaching all day.  Hope I don't have to run to the garbage can in the middle of a lecture! Haha.  At least I know my body is doing what it is supposed to do for this baby.  I can tough it out for a few more weeks! :) All of my mommy friends have given me tons of remedies to help with the sickness.

Week 6-Baby is the size of a SWEET PEA!

Well, made it another week...morning sickness FREE!! :-)  I'm still feeling great.  Just extremely tired. After reading what's happening inside, I understand why I'm constantly exhausted.

The average embryo at week 6 is about .25 inches and will double in size again next week. Wow!
Baby is also circulating blood with her increasingly more sophisticated circulatory system. It's about to get cuter too, since it's starting to sprout a nose, eyes, ears, chin and cheeks. And it might even be wiggling its (paddle-like) hands and feet.

We are still so thrilled, and are SO looking forward to Friday when I have my first ultrasound and we hopefully can hear the heartbeat. Thank you so much for the continued support! :)

Approximately Week 5-Baby is the size of an APPLESEED!

Well, I think this is the start of Week 5 (could be further).  I won't know the exact due date until my ultrasound on January 27th.

I honestly do not feel pregnant, which is why I felt I needed to take another pregnancy test.  I chose to take the digital ones so I wasn't interpreting pink lines, I had a word...and thankfully that word was PREGNANT! :-)  This last week has been very exciting.  Our pregnancy has been public knowledge and we've had SUCH an overwhelming response from our family and friends.  This baby is SO loved, already!!!

TheBump.com is a website that explains in detail what is happening each week! This week, it is the size of an appleseed! It is now measurable! It's .13 inches! In the next week, it will double in size! (Which explains why I'm SO tired all the time!!) It doesn't look like much more than a tadpole right now, but at five weeks, it's already starting to form major organs (heart, stomach, liver, kidney) and systems (digestive, circulatory, nervous). It's an absolute miracle!!!

Well, that's all for now! :) Two weeks til we get to see our little baby and see the heartbeat!

We're Pregnant!!!

So, I've never been "blogged" before.  But I thought this would be an excellent way to keep our friends updated on my pregnancy.

Josh and I were only trying to get pregnant for about a month.  We are very blessed that it happened so quickly.

On January 3rd, I went to the doctor to discuss my irregular periods. He was unsure why they were so irregular and ultimately arrived at the diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  A disorder where my ovaries only ovulate cysts, not the eggs. I was prescribed medication for that and went on my merry way.  When I got home from that appointment, the nurse called and said, "You're never going to believe this.  Your urine test was positive!!!"  I went right down to Kaiser to get a blood test. And on Wednesday, I called to get the results.  IT WAS POSITIVE!!!!  That day, I was substituting at RA Long High School, where Josh teaches.   I went right down to his classroom and told him.  It was so neat to share that experience together right away.

This last week has been a whirlwind.  We have enjoyed sharing our exciting news with all of our friends and family and have quickly realized how LOVED this baby is, already.  We can't wait to meet him or her in September.

I think blogging about my pregnancy is going to be a neat experience.  :-)  Can't wait to write more!!

Now, I'm off to my first doctor's appointment, with the nurse.  Hopefully she'll be able to answer my MILLIONS of questions! I want to make sure to do everything right for the next 8 months.  :-)
